I am an educator with 19 years of experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and skill levels. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Middle Childhood Education from Malone University in 2007 and my Master's degree from The University of Akron in 2013 in School Couseling.
For most of my career, I have served as a teacher at the Arts Academy in Canton City Schools, working with students across a wide range of academic, social, and emotional needs, including those with IEPs, 504 plans, behavior plans, RIMPS, and gifted WEPs. My background as a classroom teacher gives me a strong understanding of classroom realities and the challenges students and teachers face, allowing me to collaborate effectively with staff to remove barriers to learning.
I completed my practicum and internship at the Arts Academy and Timken Early College High School, where I worked with individual students, facilitated counseling groups, and delivered classroom guidance and social-emotional learning lessons. I also assisted with scheduling for a complex arts program and early college high school program, and organized a Career Café connecting students with local professionals based on career interests. These experiences strengthened my commitment to helping students identify their strengths, explore career pathways, and develop meaningful postsecondary plans.
Throughout my career, I have been involved in collaborative support systems including BLT, Care Team, PBIS, and MTSS, working to identify student needs, implement interventions, and monitor progress. I value a comprehensive counseling framework that supports prevention, intervention, academic planning, and student advocacy. I bring a resilient and solutions-oriented approach to my work as well as a commitment to professionalism, ethical practice, and collaboration.

When I'm not at school, I'm probably outside exploring, doing something creative, cheering on the Cavs or my son's soccer team, or planning my next travel adventure with friends and family.
